Printers…..hints and tricks.

There are 2 types of printers Ink and Laser, Lasers are mostly black and white and are cheaper to run, if you compare price per page. Ink printers are both black and white with colour.

Ink printers are more common in homes, but like ball point pens are subject to drying out. Especially if you don’t print often.

If your printer looks like below, then the cleaning process available via the printer LCD screen can be done. Most times this will fix the issue on the first try, if not you can repeat till needed.

Inks are generally expensive, so here are a few tips and tricks to save ink and money
Select the Black and White option before printing
Companies will price match if you mention online stores like,
Use alternative ink site like Raw Cartridges
If your just using your printer just for scanning, non genuine inks, will still work and keep your printer happy. (I’ve been using ink from Raw Cartridges for a while now. All Cartridges 5 for $22 for my Canon, normally $139)

Can you afford a crash?

Did you know a drive like this can crash and take down a company. Backup your data. Don’t rely on your assumption always check on your backup is working

SSD? Upgrade

Slow old computers = Hard drive Upgrades

If your computer is slow, getting old and you don’t have cash for a new one, consider a hard drive upgrade to SSD or SSHD

The size of SSD are finally price competitive, so consider an SSD upgrade to breathe a new life in to your computer Mac or Windows laptops or desktops.

SSD’s are like USB drives, really fast, a upgrade on average is $300

For more about SSD vs traditional HDD check this site Storage Review

If you would like to know more or book an upgrade please call Rebecca on 0414 600 765

What is the “Cloud”

Are you syncing?

People always ask me about the cloud

What is the “cloud”? the Cloud is a space on the internet that you can store your digital data. So when you check your e-mail its stored on the “e-mail” server.

My general rules for cloud

Security is a must, long passwords i.e. over 8 characters, mix of numbers, letters, symbols
Never store anything on a cloud service that is not backed up on your local computer.
If the cloud service closed would you be ok to loose what what stored on the cloud?
Backup, backup, backup

Happy Clouding
